This is also the story with all the different types of baby carriers. There are slings, asian wraps, hard carriers with buckles, soft, woven, and stretch wrap carriers. Wow, with all these options, I’m surprised the stroller market is doing so well!
I had a carrier with buckles given to me, as well as a sling. I did use them, but I soon realised they were just not for me. I decided that, even though I already had 2 carriers, I needed yet another. I needed one that was more practical. I chose to spend my money on a soft wrap baby carrier. I have a job, working from home as a telemarketer, but I don’t earn enough money to afford a car. My neighbors here in Centennial Place are extremely helpful. They drive me to the bank to cash my check and to the supermarket. In this community, we’re all somewhat interdependent, and the design of the area encourages us to be more social. I guess the design carefully considered such issues of sociability and accessibility, just like a housing viability company like Three Dragons would consider. And it seems to work. We tend to help each other out a lot and we also tend to pool our resources. I think that really adds to the sense of community we have here.
