Youth Theatre: Why It’s Important to Start Them Young

2012
02.15

Joining a youth theatre guild can be a little scary and intimidating to some children. However, with a little encouragement and constant support from parents and friends, children will soon learn that these acting activities can both be fun and educational. Workshops and youth theatre provide the right opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy the company of others who are also passionate with acting. Acting stints in small productions can prepare your children for the “real thing” and could give enough excitement so they can have more appreciation of the acting industry. When you start to train your children at a young age, they learn a lot faster and absorb the lessons easily especially if you place them in a fun environment. Just be sure that you don’t let the kids feel a lot of stress by expecting too much from them. Appreciate what they can do and give them support for all their efforts.

I Found the Perfect Voice over Talent

2011

I needed someone to do a voice over for a documentary I filmed. We used professional cameras and production facilities and I was planning on doing the voice part myself. I have a good speaking voice but was unable to do the work to perfect production standards. In any video or audio production there are retakes. With retakes and it being allergy season, my voice just didn’t hold out and I had to keep to a specific production deadline schedule. I didn’t really know what to do. I didn’t know anyone who had the voice I needed, we had to rescript the work because I wouldn’t be speaking myself and I couldn’t afford any big Hollywood talent. Sure, I would have been ecstatic if voice talent such as Morgan Freeman could have done the project but I couldn’t afford that caliber of talent. However, I must say that I found voice talent that was absolutely superb, even to the point I probably would have passed on the Hollywood talent if it was offered to me for free. This guy fit the voice we needed for the documentary perfectly. He did a much better job that I or anyone else could have ever done. Now I know where to go for future projects.

The Smart Way to Audition

2011
07.07

If you’re looking around for some Washington DC auditions, then you’re going to have to be sure that you’re not forgetting about any of the basics. First and foremost, you’re going to have to be sure that you’ve chosen a good monologue to deliver. If you’re reading through the audition notice and they don’t even mention a work, then you’re going to have to pick your own; just make sure that you’ve chosen something nice and classy. Second of all, you’re going to have to be sure that you’re paying for a really good headshot. Sometimes, you’re going to blow them away with your acting, but they’re not going to need you for their current production. That’s where your headshot really comes in handy. They can file it away, and if they have something come up in the future, then they’re going to be able to give you a call.

Get Casted in a Reality Tv Show This 2011

For many talented actors, it can be a struggle to actually make it in the entertainment business. It takes years of building up your portfolio and reels before any big time tv shows or films actually consider casting you for a lead role in their production. One alternative for a slightly experienced actor is to find Reality TV Show Auditions. Television programming has truly began to rely on the immediate popularity of reality tv, with it’s unscripted drama and funny events that take place while following around people in their day-to-day life.

Another version of reality TV you may be familiar with are game shows like “Survivor”, although it’s not completely unscripted, you’re still watching people deal with events that they themselves aren’t prepared for. Some of the reality TV shows today hold casting calls where hundreds of people wait in line for hours for a chance to impress judges, another and probably much less stressful way to audition, is when programming requests possible contestants to send in their audition tapes over the web or mail. Either way, a person needs to be fearless in being themself and outspoken to attract the judges in the world of Reality TV.
